Information
The second of the Structured courses offered by the al-Ghazzali Centre Academy. A Foundation course, it consists of an introduction to the various important Islamic Sciences, which have either direct or indirect relevance to our Personal Obligations (Fara'id al 'Ayn) or Communal Obligations (Fara'id al-Kifaya).
Register your name in this exciting new course, to secure a placement and to receive additional information. The class will allow a limited number of placements, a maximum of 40 students. Those who register will be given the first priority to attend the classes.
The 18-month period of study will include:
- lectures and tutorials,
- practical exercises and case studies,
- reading and practical assignments,
- assessments, with the final pass awarding a Diploma.
The course consists of 9 Modules, each module comprising of approximately 8 weeks. There are four electives offered. To complete the Award for a Diploma the student is required to complete at least two electives from different modules.
Module 1- Aqeedah
This will include the study of Aqeedah at-Tahawiyah, the Standard Text for Aqeedah matters.
Module 2- Personal Obligations (1)
This is the 1st part of a two-part module. This part will include the study of the Fiqh of Purification, Prayer and Fasting, based on the Hanafi and Shafi'i Schools.
Module 2 Elective: Astronomy
Module 3- Personal Obligations (2)
This part is an in-depth study of the Fiqh of Zakaat and Hajj, based on the Hanafi and Shafi'i Schools.
Module 4- Commerce & Trade
A must for every Muslim. Offered in much detail for the first time in Australia, based on the Hanafi and Shafi'i Schools. Very few individuals know and practise the laws of Commerce and Trade as outlined in the Shari'ah.
Module 4 Elective: Shariah-compliant personal and commercial finance
Module 5- Law & Governance
This module looks at the concept of Khilafah, as well as how Islam implements its law in public space. There will be real examples from the precedent Khilafah that existed, as well as comparisons to the Australian law.
Module 5 Electives:
- Historical Context and models of Politics,
- An Overview of the Australian Law.
Module 6- Media & D'awah
Inviting others to Islam as well as promoting societal harmony is an acquired skill, based on sound Islamic knowledge. This module will provide details on the essentials of D'awah as well as public and media relations.
Module 7- Tazkiyah (1)
Tasawwuf is a forgotten Science which always went hand in hand with the Sciences of Fiqh in traditional times. This and the second module looks at essentials of Tasawwuf in the Path of Purification of one's soul.
Module 8- Tazkiyah (2)
The second part of the Tazkiyah module provides insight to Traditional Texts from the great Scholars like Imam al-Ghazzali, Sidi Zarruq and Ibn ata-illah.
Module 9- Introduction to Usool
This module prepares the student towards the deeper and the more complex Science of Usool al-Fiqh- a Diploma course offered at the al-Ghazzali Centre Academy. It will provide an introductory view on how history of the Four Schools that formed the Principles and Methodology of deriving Islamic Law.
To qualify for the final award, the student must have had a minimum of 80% attendance, with a pass in all tests and assessments.
